Urgent Request for Pedestrian Safety Measures on Gandevi Road, Navsari (Lunsikui to Vidyakunj School)
Dear Sanghvi Sir
I am writing to bring to your attention a critical safety concern regarding pedestrians, especially school children, on Gandevi Road, Navsari, between Lunsikui and Vidyakunj School. The current road markings, particularly the double white lines in the middle of the road, have created a hazardous situation for pedestrians.
The road is extremely busy, with heavy traffic flow throughout the day, and the absence of a safe refuge area in the middle of the road makes it challenging for pedestrians to cross. The double white lines leave no space for pedestrians to stand, forcing them to balance precariously and exposing them to risk from both sides of traffic.
This route is particularly vulnerable as it connects two major schools, and numerous children and parents use this stretch daily. The current situation is unacceptable and demands immediate attention.
I humbly request you to consider creating pedestrian refuge islands or widening the median at regular intervals, especially near the schools, to provide a safe haven for pedestrians. Removing or modifying the double white lines to create gaps would allow pedestrians to safely wait in the middle of the road while crossing the other half.
Zebra cross lines, no-one following rules and pedestrians lives are in danger. Navsari Local Municipality is not taking this seriously and not doing anything about pedestrians safety. I am witnessed of many accidents on this road.
I urge you to treat this matter as urgent and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of pedestrians, especially the children, on Gandevi Road.
