India’s urban mobility story is evolving, and this November, it’s heading to Gurugram. The 18th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Expo 2025, organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), will take place from November 7–9, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency, Gurugram.

This year’s theme, “Urban Development and Mobility Nexus”, reflects a growing realisation: cities can’t solve mobility in isolation. Transport, housing, climate, and inclusion must move together literally and figuratively.

A Three-Day Mobility Marathon at UMI 2025

The event promises three packed days of discussions, debates, and discoveries. Policymakers, city leaders, researchers, startups, and transport experts will gather to exchange ideas on how India’s cities can become more accessible, efficient, and climate-resilient.

The conference kicks off with a Conclave on “Sustainable Mobility and Transit-Oriented Development at the Core of City Planning.” This session will explore how compact, mixed-use urban design supported by efficient public transport can reshape India’s cities into people-friendly spaces rather than car-centric zones.

One of the highlight sessions, “Mobility Options in Tier-2 and Tier-3 Cities,” will bring attention to smaller urban centres — where growth is fastest but planning lags. Experts are expected to discuss localised models for cost-effective transit, last-mile connectivity, and shared mobility.

The Technical Session on “Evolving Low-Emission Zones for Indian Cities” will focus on curbing pollution through clean transportation policies, while “Electric Vehicle Technologies: Prospects and Challenges” will examine India’s progress in developing a sustainable EV ecosystem.

Adding a governance dimension, the PPP Session on “Paradigm Shift from Financing to Partnership” will explore how collaboration between public and private players can reshape infrastructure delivery in cities.

According to the official program outline, the conference will feature:

• Inaugural and Technical Sessions on Sustainable and Transit-Oriented Development, Mobility Options in Tier-2 and Tier-3 Cities, and Future Cities & Innovative Mobility Solutions.
• Round Tables on Citizen Engagement, Gender Mainstreaming in Mobility, and Urban Transit-Enabled Economic Development.
• Research Symposia focus on low-emission transport, multimodal integration, and digital mobility.
• Plenary Sessions and a Mayoral Dialogue on making cities more liveable.

The final day will also spotlight Young Voices for Planning India’s Cities — a platform for students and early-career professionals to share innovative ideas.
